The Damerham and District Horticultural Society holds its 95th summer exhibition

DAMERHAM and the District Horticultural Society are back with their 95th Summer Show.

The event, which could not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid, was held on Saturday July 30, on the sports field.

Despite hot, dry weather last month which made gardening difficult, the company says there has been a “very big influx”. Adding: “All classes had great competitive entries and the judges had a tough job – especially the culinary judge”.

Among the winners were the Musker brothers in the novice classes, Madeleine Nicholls in the vegetable classes, Helen Mullens in the flowering classes and Imogen Giles in the culinary section.

Jan Burnell received the best exhibit award in flower arranging classes and Mary Ford won the Banksian Medal for her overall successes.

A company spokesperson said: “After a two-year hiatus, this show enjoyed record attendance – the marquee was packed with visitors throughout the afternoon.”
